i wish there was a way to get tumblr savoired posts to show if they’re tagged like one of a set of tags

say its a spoiler and i want to know if its for dangan ronpa/other thing i haven’t finished i can say to show the “dangan ronpa” tag under the usual savior warning like “this was also tagged as dangan ronpa”

then if it isnt i can just click through assured that it’s probably something i know already

You mean like this?

Just turn on the “Show tags from hidden posts.” option and you’ll see what tags the post has.

Tumblr Savior v0.4.5 Released

Thank you all for the very nice e-mails, it appears you noticed that v0.4.4 was completely borked on Firefox. I’m a bit upset at the Mozilla Addon review process. They approved a completely broken addon and it took them 3 weeks to do it. I have pulled v0.4.4 from the Firefox extension gallery. I’m now hosting the extension myself so you won’t have to wait 3 weeks and you can get it from the usual place: http://tumblr-savior.bjornstar.com

Sorry it took me a day to get it out, but the company I am working for was having issues yesterday. By the way, if anyone out there is interested in hiring a talented software engineer please e-mail me. I am looking for work!

Yeah, so it looks like the Tumblr Savior firefox extension is broken. Amazing how it took 3 weeks for them to review it and then publish it even though it doesn’t work. I think I know how to fix it, but I won’t be able publish it until later. Sit tight folks!

Tumblr Savior v0.4.4 Released

I finally updated Tumblr Savior to fit in better with the new Tumblr style. Chrome users: this contains an update to manifest version 2, so you better have a relatively recent version of Chrome to use it. Firefox users on OS X: You shouldn’t have white text on white background anymore.

Public Service Announcement

Turn off auto-updating of the Greasemonkey version of Tumblr Savior, you do not ever want it to automatically update. It will reset your blacklist. To do this, go to your Add-ons Manager, click on the Greasemonkey tab, then right click on the Tumblr Savior entry and uncheck the line that says: ‘Automatically check for updates’

While you’re at it, why not try the Firefox Add-on version of Tumblr Savior, it’s much easier to use and can actually be updated without losing all your settings. If you don’t like that link for it, you can find a copy of it in the Firefox Add-on Gallery.

Tumblr Savior on Firefox

Just to clear up some confusion, there is a Tumblr Savior Add-On for Firefox and there is a Tumblr Savior Greasemonkey userscript. They are two separate versions and you only need one of them. I heartily recommend you use the Add-On version, it’s much easier to use and is updated fairly regularly. You do not need Greasemonkey if you use the Add-On.

When you install the Tumblr Savior Add-on for Firefox, the icon will show up in the Add-On bar which goes across the bottom of your browser window by default. On Windows you can show and hide this bar by pressing Ctrl+/. You can move the icon up next to your address bar by right clicking on the Add-On bar and choosing Customize… a window will pop up, when that window is visible you can drag the Tumblr Savior icon up into your main browser bar and then click on Done. After that you can hide the Add-On bar again and the icon will remain visible in your browser bar.

Every version of Tumblr Savior is available from http://tumblr-savior.bjornstar.com I’ve created versions for Chrome, Safari, Opera, and Firefox. If you don’t like using my site, you can also go to the various browser extension galleries where they’re all available as well:

Tumblr Savior in Safari Extension Gallery

It took a ridiculously long time for Apple to put Tumblr Savior into the Safari Extension Gallery, but with much persistence it is in! You can find it in the Social Networking category. If you haven’t got Tumblr Savior for Safari yet, there’s no time like now.

The version on Safari Extension Gallery is exactly the same as the one from http://bjornstar.com/tumblr-savior so if you’ve already got that installed, you’re good.

Tumblr Savior v0.4 Released

You’ve all been waiting for it and it’s finally here. A version of Tumblr Savior for Firefox that’s as easy to use as the versions on Chrome, Safari, and Opera. I finally managed to get it done and I think you’ll be pleased with the result.

I am releasing this preliminary version for you to try out. It’s got a few rough edges, but I think it’s worth letting you give it a try. One of the bugs that I noticed is when you first install it, the icon won’t appear. You’ve got two options, one is to restart Firefox, the other is to disable the extension and enable it again. Other than that, give it a shot. I hope you like it.

Tumblr Savior v0.3.23 Released

Where did all the options go? What is this? I just put tabs in Tumblr Savior so you can have more room for your blacklist. All those checkboxes are now in the settings tab and to the right of that is the oft requested tab to save and load your settings. And last I added a little About tab just for kicks.

The Save/Load function is extremely basic, it’s a bunch of text you can save to a text file. You can paste it back into the box and hit the load button. You can send this text to your friend or you can load different blacklists depending on your mood. However, I caution you to use this feature with care as it’s possible to mess up your settings. If it gets messed up, you’ll have to hit the restore defaults button to get it working again. Regardless, I hope you like this feature, I made it just for you.

Star this bug

Many of you ran into problems in the past few weeks with Tumblr Savior. Especially those of you who aren’t running the absolute latest stable version of Chrome. Well, Google is pushing changes to Chrome Extensions which spell the end of support of all extensions for versions of Chrome prior to v18. Do you want Tumblr Savior and Tumtaster to continue working on whichever version of Chrome you choose to run? Then you’ll want to show your support by starring this bug on the Google bug tracker.

If we don’t let Google know how important it is not to abandon extension support for older versions, Google will remove extension support for Chrome versions older than v18 in November. So click through to http://crbug.com/138740 and click on the star where it says Issue 138740 to show your support. Otherwise, in a few months you won’t get any updates for Tumblr Savior and Tumtaster on older versions of Chrome.
