This is a huge step forward for usability on tumblr. URLs actually reflect content and all pages have unique titles that reflect. This will definitely help Google to index tumblelogs better. Great job.

I could have done without the “tumblelogs can index EXTREMELY well” bit, just because some affiliate spammers wanted to try out tumblr doesn’t mean it indexes well. Obviously Tumblr did have problems with SEO and I’m glad you’ve taken steps to fix it.

We’ve just made a few changes to make your tumblelogs a bit more accessible and search-engine friendly. One thing you’ll probably notice right away: Permalink URLs now include a summary of the post content.

We’ve also added the theme tag, {PostSummary}. This is an alternative to the {PostTitle} tag (used on permalink pages) that will generate a short text summary if the post doesn’t have a title.
