Today I got two follow up e-mails from Skype, one more irritating than the other. The first, in terrible, incomprehensible English told me “we have migrated to ensure you get the best support.”
The second told me, in equally unintelligible English, to “provide us a screen shot of one of the following telephone bill/ statement showing the new address in order for us to forward the concern.” At this point I’m questioning my sanity.
I probably should just give up and give Google my money, but I’d rather not. Anyone have suggestions for inexpensive, reliable VOIP calls to the US?

I created my skype account online several years ago and have purchased skype credits a few times. I think skype is a great service and I have been using it to keep in touch with my friends and family while I am on the other side of the globe.
I noticed my account’s skype credits were running low this week and I went to skype.com to purchase more. For some reason, whenever I tried to purchase more skype credits I was redirected to pchome.com.tw. I really wanted to talk to my family members using skype on Thanksgiving, but no matter what I did, I kept getting redirected to pchome.com.tw which required a copy of my passport before I could buy skype credit.
I tried contacting skype support to purchase skype credits from skype directly, but they refused to take my money. I was told if I didn’t want to purchase skype credits from pchome.com.tw, I should create a new skype account.
Skype customer service kept telling me that I am a skype customer, but I cannot buy skype credits directly from skype. I was told that I must buy skype credit from pchome.com.tw.
I became a skype customer to talk to my friends and family around the world. I’m a US citizen with a US billing address and I have been told repeatedly by skype representatives over the past few days that I can only buy skype credit through pchome.com.tw and not from skype directly.
The only conclusion I can draw is that I am no longer a skype customer, but a pchome.com.tw customer. It would have been nice to get an e-mail from skype telling me that I can no longer buy skype credit from them. It certainly would have made Thanksgiving a lot less frustrating.
I don’t even know why I’m writing to a faceless corporation, but I’m doing it anyway. I’m also including the agonizing customer experiences I have had over the past few hours. I’m sure I sound like a frustrated jerk in both of them and I weep for our future.
